ODP title, description and category meta-data is used to enhance Yahoo!'s relevant search results. Site Search

Providing effective site search functionality is essential for increasing customer satisfaction and maximizing monetization opportunities. Yahoo! partners can use our Site Search to enable site visitors to find information that is available on the partner's site. Yahoo! Site Search is a completely hosted solution that lets partners select exactly which pages are included in the Site Search index. Partners can provide feeds of their URLs, which will be added to the Site Search index within 24-48 hours of receipt.

News Search

For time-sensitive content, partners can use Yahoo! News Search. News Search includes millions of the latest and most relevant articles from US and international news sources in a variety of languages. Information can be searched by relevance, date and news topic/category.

The News Search index is updated every 15 minutes and information remains in the index for up to 30 days. Additionally, partners that include information in the News Search index can choose whether their information is also available to Yahoo! visitors who conduct news searches on the Yahoo! site. These searches drive more visitors back to the partner sites. Yahoo! News Search supports inclusion of information via industry-standard formats, RSS and NewsML. (News Search is available on a limited basis.)

Image & Video Search

Yahoo! provides comprehensive image and video search capabilities. Yahoo! Image Search includes more than 1.5 billion images, while Video Search includes content from leading news and entertainment sites such as Buena Vista Pictures, CBS News, CMT, Discovery Communications, MTV, Reuters, Scripps Networks (Home & Garden Television, The Food Network), VH1 and more. Partners can provide the most complete search experience for visitors by including image and video results along with web or site searches. (Image and Video Search are available on a limited basis.)

Contextual Search

Yahoo!'s Contextual Search improves search relevance for ambiguous terms by capturing a user's search intent. The Y!Q feature enables users to search "at the point of inspiration" from the web pages they are reading. Contextual Search results are then overlaid directly on web pages and allow users to progressively modify and refine the focus of their searches. Yahoo! partners can engage their users and keep them on their site longer by offering these additional search capabilities.
